Kelley Bordeleau is originally from a very small town in northern New York near the St. Lawrence River. She attended St. Lawrence University where she had a chance to study in Spain for a year and where she earned her B.S. in Psychology and Spanish. Kelley decided to stay at SLU for one more year after graduation to earn her Masters of Education in Counseling and Human Development.

For the past eight years, Kelley has worked at Tilton School, an independent boarding school in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. At Tilton, Kelley had several roles including World Languages Department Chair, Spanish and French teacher, student advisor, and dormitory parent. Working with students was an essential aspect of her job, and through Tilton, she has a great understanding of what it’s like to go to school away from home.

Kelley recently moved to the Seacoast region and began working as an academic advisor here at UNH in August. She is very excited to help students explore possible classes and majors, and she will be available each Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 for drop-in appointments in Alexander Hall.

In her free time, Kelley loves to read, explore her new home, visit with friends, make baskets and quilts, and go for bike rides. Some of Kelley’s favorite books include The Basque History of the World by Mark Kurlansky, Mama Day by Gloria Naylor, The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides, along with several others. Kelley recently read Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser and as a result she eats a lot less meat. Kelley loves the original Star Wars trilogy, High Fidelity (both the book and the movie), Todo Sobre Mi Madre, as well as classic 80’s films like Back to the Future and Footloose.

Kelley’s advice for first year students: “Always take the time to meet with your professors. They will be able to answer your questions and help you to become a better student. They are a resource that every student should use.”
