Using the Summary F&A Tab

Using the Summary F&A Tab

Comprehensive How To Guides > Creating Proposal Submissions > Complete the Budget Tab > Using the Summary F&A Tab

The summary F&A page provides a composite list of F&A expenses by period. Use the “Source View” dropdown list in the upper right hand corner to filter what you see based on Project, Sponsor, Institution, and Unallowable expenses.

The “Institution Base/Target Scheme” dropdown list allows you to view the included budget categories and effective rates for each pre-established scheme. Use the “Show” link to inspect the details, such as “Included Budget Categories” for the F&A base.

Once you have determined the correct scheme, use the “Scheme” dropdown list as appropriate. In most cases, using a preset scheme will be adequate. These schemes will enable your budget to automatically calculate the F&A. You can also select the base and rate separately or use “manual entry” to enter a custom Effective Rate.

To use manual entry and override all automatic calculations, click the “Manual F&A” button, this will place the summary tab into edit mode. From there you can enter the totals directly.

When you are ready, use the “Apply” button and save your work.
Note: “Drift” represents the difference between the expected costs based on the preconfigured target scheme and the requested costs selected in the F&A section.

Note: A Detail F&A tab is also provided with each budget period. These tabs work the same as the Summary F&A functionality.
