Health & Society

Health and society research at UNH focuses on helping people live full, healthy lives - physically, intellectually, socially and culturally - as individuals, as families, and as communities. Discovering the cellular basis for diseases, defining and promoting active, healthy lifestyles, developing assistive technology, and delivering innovative therapeutic services are part of the equation. So are improving education (especially in math, science, engineering and technology) and finding ways to make educational opportunities more inclusive. Gathering the information needed to inform health care policy development, exploring strategies to prevent violence and abuse, and strengthening rural communities add to the picture. The final component is fostering understanding of, and participation in, the arts, the history, the languages and the cultures of people both near and far.
