Health, Behavioral & Social Sciences

Research in the areas of health, behavioral, and social sciences at UNH focuses on exploring the human condition - physical, psychological, and social - as individuals, as families, and as communities.

Health research helps people live full, healthy lives. Discovering the cellular basis for diseases, defining and promoting active, healthy lifestyles, developing assistive technology, and delivering innovative therapeutic services are all parts of the equation.

Improving education (especially in math, science, engineering and technology) and finding ways to make educational opportunities more inclusive is another priority.

The behavioral and social sciences promote understanding of human life from the smallest synaptic firing in the human brain to the political and social systems that guide millions of people across the globe. It explores humanity from the ancient to the modern. Developing strategies to prevent violence and abuse, strengthening rural communities, and creating tools to help law enforcement are just some of the applied research goals.
