Laser Safety Program Management and Registration
The Laser Safety Program at UNH oversees the safe use of lasers on campus. It provides guidance for the compliance with Federal standards of the American National Standard for the Use of Lasers (ANSI Z136-1) and regulations of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Emergency Procedures
If you experience an eye or skin injury from a laser first seek immediate medical attention, and then notify your supervisor and the Laser Safety Officer, Michele Arista at 603-312-2500. A laser exposure incident form must be filed with the Laser Safety Officer following laser related exposures or incidents. Laser Exposure Incident Forms can be found here.

Laser Safety Training
Initial and annual refresher training is required for all those operating Class 3B or 4 lasers. It will cover the basic modes of exposure and use of personal protective equipment. Please call Michele Arista, the Radiation Safety Officer, at 862-3607 for more information.
