NIJ Clarifies Who Should Sign a NIJ Privacy Certificate

Jan 21, 2014

Researchers funded by the National Institute of Justice (NIJ) are required to submit a Privacy Certificate as part of their grant funding application. NIJ recently clarified that when the study involves the use of human subjects and UNH Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval has been granted, the person who needs to sign the Privacy Certificate as the Institutional Representative is the IRB Chair.  For more information, visit the NIJ Privacy Certificate guidance webpage, which includes a model Privacy Certificate.
