Conference on National Security and Campus Safety Issues That Affect Higher Education Institutions

Jul 23, 2013

The University of New Hampshire will host a conference in conjunction with the FBI’s New Hampshire and Massachusetts Field Office’s.  The conference will be held on Tuesday, August 6th, 2013 from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at the University of New Hampshire’s Memorial Union Building, 83 Main Street, Durham, NH 03824.  Please Park in Lot A.

The conference is a part of the FBI’s Academic Alliance and Campus Liaison Initiatives.  Given the uniqueness of the campus environment, these initiatives seek to establish an open dialogue with academic institutions about substantive threats that consistently affect the campus environment.  It is our hope that with your assistance, the FBI can assist in making campuses safer by providing valuable information that helps to protect your institution from a multitude of threats.

The topics will include presentations and case studies about how proprietary research and government-sponsored research at institutions are vulnerable targets for nefarious activity, case studies on international and domestic terrorist activity on campuses, and an overview of the behavioral characteristics of students who have committed campus related mass shootings.  These presentations will provide a baseline of knowledge to assist administrators, general counsel, research and development, risk management, IT network protection, campus police, and counselors.

To register for the conference please contact Nicole French @ Nicole.French@ic.fbi.gov or (617) 223-6039 by August 01, 2013.
