On Thursday, February 14, 2013 AAAS will convene a one-day workshop on Responsible Professional Practices in a Changing Research Environment as part of the AAAS Annual Meeting. The 2013 AAAS Annual Meeting Workshop has as its theme, Professional Development and Responsible Science.

The workshop will take place from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm in the Hynes Convention Center, Room 207, Boston, MA. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.  The meeting is open to all for a $25 fee.

This workshop on professional development and responsible practice will be directed toward trainees (e.g., graduate students and post-docs) and early career scientists, and will cover such topics as responsible communication of research results, developing a successful research program, international collaborations, and giving and receiving good mentoring. More senior faculty interested in establishing or enhancing programs on career development and/or responsible conduct at their home institutions are also encouraged to attend. There will be special sessions for this group, focusing on implementing training and instructional strategies. Handouts will be provided to everyone, and trainees will also receive materials for use in teaching about the topics covered.
