Three Important Things to Know
- There is a distinction between Applying to Graduate and participating in the Commencement Ceremony. You are only graduated after the Registrar’s Office has certified that you have successfully completed all of your degree requirements. Participating in the Commencement Ceremony is simply the act of honoring and celebrating academic achievement at the ceremony held in May.
- Your degree requirements are comprised of Discovery or General Education requirements, Writing Intensive requirements, major requirements, and – for Bachelor of Arts candidates – the Foreign Language requirement.
- It is your responsibility to monitor and complete your degree requirements. Your advisor can help shape your academic career but you must ensure the classes you take fulfill your degree requirements.
