How to Calculate Your Grade Point Average (G.P.A.).

G.P.A.s are calculate using the following method:

Total Grade Points/Total GPA Hours = Cumulative G.P.A.

The G.P.A. is calculated by dividing the grade points by the G.P.A hours.  G.P.A.'s are calculated to two decimal places and are truncated, NOT rounded.

Grade Points are calculated by multiplying the credit value of the course times the numeric value of the grade (each letter grade carries a numeric value).

GPA hours are the sum of credit hour value of all letter-graded courses, except P/F (pass/fail) or CR/F (credit/fail) grades.

NOTE:  Pass/Fail and Credit/Fail are not calculated into the G.P.A..

Grade Value

  Grade Value
 A 4.00    C- 1.67
 A- 3.67    D+ 1.33
 B+ 3.33    D 1.00
 B 3.00    D- .67
 B- 2.67    AF 0.00
 C+ 2.33    F 0.00
 C 2.00    WF 0.00
Repeated Courses

When a course is repeated, the values of the original course are subtracted from the cumulative values, i.e. the GPA hours, credits earned, and grade points if applicable.  (Even if the original grade is higher than the repeated one!)
