Inherent in this responsibility is the need to encourage the production of creative and scholarly works, and the development of intellectual property. Creators of intellectual property, however, need incentives to protect their assets so that their creative abilities, and the creative abilities of others, are encouraged and stimulated. Further, UNH has a responsibility to ensure utilization of inventions and materials for the public good and to expedite their development and transfer.
