The Minor in Psychology
![]() |
Students of psychology can study a wide range of subjects, including bird behavior! Maria Zoccoli researched Clark's Nutcrackers, trying to determine if these birds possess metamemory: do they know what they remember? Maria worked under the mentorship of Prof. Brett Gibson. |
Minor Requirements
FIVE courses (20 credits), including Psychology 401 and at least two courses at the 500-level or above.
No more than four (4) credits of Independent Study (Psychology 795) may be used.
Each course must be passed with a grade of C- or better, with an overall minimum grade point average of 2.0 for the five minor courses.
No pass/fail or credit/fail courses may be applied toward the minor.
NOTE: Only courses taken in a psychology department may be applied toward the minor. In addition, transfer courses must be evaluated for their equivalency. Under no circumstances can more than 9 transfer credits be applied toward the minor. Three credit transfer courses (and courses that count for less than three credits) can be applied only as three credits. Students must make up for a credit deficit created by acceptance of transfer courses, with one exception: one three-credit course accepted in transfer may be applied for a total of 19 credits.
All courses for the minor must be approved by the Psychology Department.
