Neuroscience and Behavior Major
Neuroscience and Behavior offers a program of study in disciplines important to understanding brain function. This is an intercollege major that brings together topics in neurobiology (anatomy, physiology, neurochemistry, genetics) with elements of psychology and cognitive science. Students will complete a series of foundation courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and statistics that include many of the courses required for medical school as well as core courses and electives in integrative neuroscience or animal behavior. Students will develop critical thinking and oral and written communication skills by actively exploring the content, theory, and methods of the neurosciences. The program provides strong preparation for entry into graduate programs in neuroscience, behavior, pharmacology, and medicine. The Psychology and Biological Sciences departments administer the program jointly. The degree awarded is the BS.
Interested students who are already enrolled at UNH should consult the Psychology Department coordinator prior to declaring this major. Incoming students may declare this major at the time of admission to the University.
If you are an enrolled student in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture, please contact Prof. Win Watson for information about this major.
