Hetty Startup

Hetty Startup is a lecturer of art history & architectural history at the University of New Hampshire. Trained as an architectural historian she has worked in the museum, higher education, and nonprofit fields, and is dedicated to creating teaching environments for art history, museum, and material culture studies that are content rich. She works with local cultural partners (such as the Manchester Historic Association and the Currier Museum of Art) to enliven students’ understanding and uses the classroom and opportunities in the community to show students how to improve their writing and critical thinking skills. In 2009, She co-led and taught the NH Institute of Art’s first summer school in Verona, Italy and serves on the board of directors of Rubia, whose mission is to develop economic opportunities through craft heritage, to support education and to promote health and well being for Afghan women and their families.
