Sports Drinks for Active Individuals: When, Which, and How Much?

 

Program Description:

Explores the benefits of sports drinks, such as Gatorade. The circumstances when athletes would benefit from a sports drink, and when they would not. The relative merits of different sports drinks. How much should be consumed and when? Are energy drinks, like Red Bull, healthy? This presentation includes an engaging Powerpoint presentation, a short workshop for participants, and plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion. It is intended for the general public; no previous knowledge of nutrition is expected.

Dennis Bobiliya

Dr. Bobilya received his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri in 1989 and has been a professor of nutrition at the University of New Hampshire since 1991. He have been teaching courses in sports nutrition, nutritional biochemistry, mineral nutrition, and vitamin nutrition. His goal is to optimize the health, fitness and performance of physically active individuals, especially athletes, through the application of scientifically sound nutrition. All of Dr. Bobilya's presentations will promote learning through a fun and engaging presentation.
