Broadband Connectivity, Cyberinfrastructure and New Hampshire

 

Program Description:

Next-generation scientific inquiry, learning, commerce and communication in New Hampshire require investments in underlying infrastructure. A series of efforts are underway to channel initiatives and investment to meet the basic components required to propel New Hampshire forward. This presentation highlights the factors and projects designed to build the cyberinfrastructure needed in New Hampshire and what citizens can do to participate and support the future of technology.

Scott Valcourt

Scott Valcourt is director of IT project management & consulting services in the information technology department at the University of New Hampshire. Additionally, he is an adjunct faculty member in the computer science department and through his work as a former director of the UNH InterOperability Laboratory and Center for Software Systems, he is in contact with technology companies in New Hampshire and around the world, bringing research projects to UNH that benefit graduate and undergraduate students in a variety of technology areas and with several corporate partners involved in the projects. He earned a B.A. in computer science with mathematics emphasis from Saint Anselm College in 1992, a M.S. in computer science from the University of New Hampshire in 1999, and is a Ph.D. candidate in Engineering Systems Design at the University of New Hampshire.
