Bill Marriott
President's Distinguished Speakers Series
Chairman and CEO, Marriott International
October 5, 2007
Bill Marriott, Chairman and CEO of Marriott International Inc., addressed an audience of 170 people at a luncheon and program in the Huddleston Ballroom. The audience consisted of faculty and students of the Hospitality Management program of Whittemore School of Business and Economics, as well as distinguished alums of UNH currently working around the country in various roles within the Marriott Corporation. Also in attendance were distinguished members of the New Hampshire business community.
The program opened with “Spirit to Serve,” a video celebrating the 80th anniversary of Marriott’s founding and 50 years in the lodging business. This opening echoed the themes of Marriott’s keynote address, which chronicled his career—beginning with his family’s first root beer stand in Washington D.C.—and its transformation into a $12 billion global lodging company with nearly 3,000 properties in 69 countries and territories. UNH President Mark W. Huddleston welcomed guests and introduced the speaker.
