The Minor in Political Science
![]() |
Typical class size is 30 students. Upper-level classes can be as small as 8 to 12 students. |
The Political Science minor consists of five courses (20 credits). Any combination of five courses is acceptable. However, no more than two 400-level introductory courses can be taken.
You may concentrate on one field, or you may choose to diversify your minor. The areas you may choose from are:
American Politics (500-519/600-619)
Political Thought (520-539/620-639)
Comparative Politics (540-559/640-659)
International Politics (560-579/660-679)

Remember that you must receive a grade of "C-" or better in each course to receive credit.
Up to two courses in your minor can also count towards General Education Requirements (this cannot be done with major/Gen. Eds.). Keep in mind that you can only "double count" a total of two courses (eight credits) throughout your academic career.
You should fill out a Completion of a Minor form at the same time you complete your Intent to Graduate Form at the beginning of the second semester of your Senior year. These forms can be obtained in your Dean's Office or the Registrar's Office.
The Department Administrative Assistants can sign your Completion of a Minor Form for Minor Advisor. We are located in Horton 321.
