Honors in Major

If you have a grade point average of 3.4 or better, you are entitled to enroll in the honors-in-major program in Political Science. Successful completion of these requirements will be recorded on your permanent transcript. In order to complete this program, you must fulfill the following requirements:
• Students are required to maintain an overall 3.40 grade-point average and a 3.20 in major coursework.
• Students must successfully complete four 500-level, 600-level, or 700-level courses in political science. As a minimum, the honors component will include additional research and writing assignments to be determined by consultation with the instructor.
• In addition, students must successfully complete POLT 799 Honors Thesis (4 credits), consisting of independent library or field research and a written thesis under the supervision of a faculty member. This will constitute a eleventh course in the major. See Honors Thesis Student/Sponsor Agreement for more information.
