Internships

Participating in an internship is a good way to gain work experience in your field of interest before you graduate. Many internships are non-credited experiences; they are, by definition, non-academic (non-classroom) experiences to which you apply the knowledge you have gained during your academic experience. However, some departments at UNH have carefully crafted credited internships within an academic framework; for these, you must work closely with a professor who directs an academic component of the internship or applied experience that has been agreed upon and planned in advance of the experience.

As a Theatre and Dance Department major, you could arrange to register for THDA 691, Internship, or 791, Internship in Theatre and Dance, if you would like to receive academic credit for your internship, and it is related to your major. Your first step would be to identify an internship of interest to you through Career Services or other avenues. You would then ask a Theatre and Dance Department faculty member if he or she would be your faculty sponsor. Your sponsor would work with you to develop an academic component to your internship. These are credit/fail courses worth 2-8 credits. Registration for the courses follows normal Registrar’s Office deadlines. Please see Course Offerings page and follow the link for course descriptions to learn more about the requirements for the Department internships.

The Undergraduate Advising and Career Center uses an online service to post all internship opportunities that it receives. Visit the internship page at Career Services.
