What you can expect

Here is what you can expect from the UNH Parents Association and how the Parents Council helps to keep parents connected to their students and UNH . . .

Expect to Be Informed

Our monthly emails, UNH Update, will keep you up-to-date on campus life and opportunities for students. Be sure to sign up for the UNH Parents Portal email messages and also sign up for the separate UNH Parents Association email list at www.unh.edu/parents

Our website has lots of parent campus wide resources to help parents navigate UNH and assist their students.  The Association sponsors an online Parents Resource Guide for quick information on most aspects of the UNH experience. It includes phone numbers and websites to connect you to student services departments for more information and guidance.

Parents involved in the Parents Council help UNH staff select topics of interest to parents and their students – for the UNH Update emails. They contain information and stories about opportunities and challenges for students, highlight campus safety, financial aid, academic support services, residential life and more.

And check out the Off the Beaten Path – a series of campus guides to the lesser known places on campus.

Expect to Have a Voice – through the UNH Parents Council

The Parents Council works with University leadership to discuss the current concerns of parents.  If you have any concerns that you would like the Council to voice on your behalf, please contact the Parents Association office at 603-862-4370 or email us at parents.association@unh.edu .  You are also welcome to apply to become a Council member, we accept applications in June and July of each year.

Expect to be part of the UNH Community

The UNH Parents Association invites you and your family to experience UNH life during several notable events throughout the academic year.  Typically these events include Family Weekend and an invitation to the Undergraduate Research Conference, along with sporting events and unique student presentations.

Family Weekend, held in the early fall, is a tradition showcasing typical weekend events available at UNH. It’s an opportunity to reconnect with your student, meet their new friends and other UNH parents.  Each spring, parents are invited to the Undergraduate Research Conference, which highlights student research, a distinguishing part of the undergraduate academic experience here at UNH.

Expect to Help Improve the Experience for all UNH Students

It’s a tradition to hold a yearly fundraising campaign for the Parents Fund sponsored by the UNH Advancement office in conjunction with the UNH Parents Association.  This fund supports scholarships and financial aid for students as well as providing needed institutional support.

In the past, the UNH Parents Fund has been used to create a $500,000 Parents Association Endowed Scholarship Program. This continues to fund undergraduate scholarships – which since 2001 has funded 61 students with partial tuition scholarships totaling $190,100.00 (click here for more information).  The UNH Parents Fund has also provided $300,000 to help with the completion of the recently-renovated Kingsbury Hall.

UNH couldn’t accomplish these projects without your help.  Every gift matters, your gifts to the Parents Fund truly helps UNH change the world, one UNH student at a time.  That’s one of the reasons why we say: “At UNH, Parents Make A Difference!
