Consumer Education Workshop; Student Loans
Presenter: Donna Shelby, Vice President Student Lending, Citizens Bank
Student debt can be troubling and complex for those who are just starting out, and those who have already graduated. But families facing the daunting task of paying for college have more choices today. This presentation reviews traditional vehicles, such as work-study, grants, scholarships and federal loans. It also explores some products new to the market, including parent loans, multi-year borrowing options, consolidation/refinancing and home-equity. This is an opportunity to learn what features to consider when borrowing for college and how to compare alternatives. The presentation includes a discussion of options on managing debt beyond graduation. The goal is to empower families with information to help make the best choices now and for the future.
