The UNH Parents Association made a commitment in the fall of 1999 to support higher education for UNH students by committing to raise $500,000 to establish this scholarship fund. The creation of this Scholarship Endowment was accomplished by reaching out to UNH parents to contribute to this effort. 

The Parents Association Endowed Scholarship was created to assist UNH Students in financial need.  In 2001 while the fund was still growing, the Parents Association began awarding scholarships.  In the first year of awards, three UNH students received partial tuition scholarships, since then 63 more students have received scholarships; awards totaling $190,000.00 to date.  The $500,000.00 fund goal was reached in 2005 and completion of the endowment fund will allow the UNH Parents Association to award scholarships to undergraduate students in perpetuity.  

Funds available for these scholarships are based on the interest accrued by the basic scholarship fund and therefore funding can vary from year to year.  Typical awards are $3,000 for each student. These scholarships are awarded in the spring of each year for the following academic year. The scholarships are designed to aid students who have demonstrated financial need and academic achievement, minimum GPA of 2.8; students also must be involved in community service projects, and/or making financial contributions to their education through employment.  

We realize that UNH students come from all walks of life and are involved in a variety of activities that promote learning, self-awareness and understanding.  Yet, financial need often hinders some of the best opportunities for learning.  It is the intent of the UNH Parents Association that through this scholarship program we will be able to assist UNH students in reaching their personal and professional goals.
