Equipment:
$10,042.00 • To purchase a specialized scanner for the Student Affairs Research & Assessment Center to facilitate & enhance the Center’s ability to produce more detailed surveys.
$2,900.00 • Given to the UNH Fencing team. These funds will purchase scoring equipment to enable the team to enhance their practice sessions and to host more intercollegiate tournaments.
$4,625.00 • For cycling equipment for the UNH Cycling Team. To facilitate their team’s growth and to offset two interrupted fundraising events.
$5,710.00 • Given to both the UNH Baseball and Softball Sport Clubs funds to purchase a pitching machine and batting cage. This equipment will be used by the men and women at UNH and will also be used during summer baseball camps for local school children. The purchase addresses major safety issues with current indoor practice.
$1,836.00 • To purchase a printer, laminating machine and signage for CREAM. CREAM is the Cooperative for Real Education Agricultural Management associated with the UNH Dairy Teaching & Research Center. The printer will allow students to be involved with making brochures for visitors. The signs and ability to laminate additional signs will enhance their educational outreach effort to visitors.
$10,423.00 • To fund sport wheelchairs for the Wheelchair Sports program sponsored by the Northeast Passage Program, part of the Dept. of Recreation Management & Policy. These specialized chairs will replace outdated chairs and allow the UNH Wheelchair Sports program to expand. The Wheelchair Sports program involves disabled and and non disabled students playing indoor sports.
$20,421.00 • Given to the UNH Library to assist them in making the Library’s collection of multimedia material browsable. The collection currently not accessible for browsing. This effort is expected to increase the use of this collection and in turn, increase the use of the library. The money will be used to add to the shelving needed, install security tags, and buy sturdy cases for audio tapes and videos.
$12,150.00 • Given to the UNH Library for an additional 6 laptop computers for their Library Laptop Program This program enables students to borrow a laptop computer for a 4 hour time frame. The laptop loan program “has proven to be an enormous success.”
Programming & Academics:
$3000.00 • Given to the Dept. of Art and Art History for assistance in underwriting part of the final development costs for the Italian Studies Program.
$2000.00 • Given to the Humanities Dept. to assist in further developing the Native American Studies program.
$2,700.00 • Given to the Institute on Disability for funding a Jumpstart: Early Success with Autism video. This video will be used to train students, community providers and parents.
$5785.00 • Given to the Seacoast Reads program which provides tutorial and instructional support in literacy and science for elementary students & teachers through UNH undergraduate and graduate volunteers. The funds will provide books and other instructional materials and transportation to the schools for volunteers.
$1,970.00 • To help underwrite the Take Back the Night Program sponsored by SHARPP. This is the annual culminating event for Sexual Assault Awareness Month on the UNH campus. It is SHARPP’s largest educational outreach event aimed at building community and raising awareness around the issue of sexual violence.
$7000.00 • For underwriting a portion of the music expenses for an original production of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow, which is being planned by the UNH Dept. of Theatre and Dance.
$2,125.00 • Given to the UNH Concert Choir & the UNH Music Dept. to fund cooperative performances, which involve not only the UNH Concert Choir but regional choirs and musicians. This is a great outreach effort for UNH to highlight the music program here at UNH.
$6,000.00 • Given to the office of Residential Life to establish an informational newsletter for one year, that will be directly mailed to parents of students living in the UNH dormitories and to establish a special interactive parents section to the Residential Life website.
$5,500.00 • Given to the UNH LeaderShape Program to partial fund its 3rd annual LeaderShape Institute for UNH students. This will help to fund 60 students to attend this institute.
$3,430.00 • Given to fund a beginning of the school year event for the Thompson School students, “Creating Ties That Bond.” The program is being created to assist the new, entering students develop a sense of unity with the Thompson School and UNH.
$3,623.00 • Given to the Office of Health Education & Promotion which requested funding to help research and produce a cookbook for students, which would promote healthy snacking, cooking and shopping.
$5,750.00 • Given to the UNH Student Organization Services for mid week daytime programming at the Memorial Union Building.
$6,000.00 • Given to the Fireside Adventure Experience Program for the purchase of Sea Kayaks. The kayaks will be used to develop a new wilderness orientation program. The experience is expected to enhance student’s transition to university life through building peer groups and practicing leadership skills.
$6,480.00 • Given to the UNH Skating Club to assist them in further developing their synchronized skating team.
