| K. Embargoes
The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Department of the Treasury administers and enforces economic and trade sanctions based on US foreign policy and national security goals against targeted foreign countries and regimes, prohibited persons, and other threats to the national security, foreign policy or economy of the United States. UNH is committed to compliance with these sanctions. If a research project involves travel to a sanctioned country, PIs/PDs should contact the Director of the Center for International Education (CIE) for assistance in putting the proper procedural safeguards into place to avoid a violation. PIs/PDs should contact the OSR Manager of Research Administration with any questions or concerns about proposals or awards that involve OFAC sanctions programs. Violations of embargoes sanctions carry significant civil and criminal penalties both for UNH and for the employees who violate the laws. |
