Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC)

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) at UNH is charged with reviewing all research and instructional projects involving vertebrate animals. No activity involving the use of vertebrate animals can proceed without IACUC approval. PIs/PDs who intend to conduct research or instruction that involves vertebrate animals must apply for and receive unconditional IACUC approval (approval without contingency) before beginning the project. Applications for IACUC review are available at the IACUC’s Webpage or by contacting the UNH OSR RIS Manager. (Review by any other IACUC of any other institution does not negate the requirement of review and approval by UNH IACUC.)

All persons working at UNH must complete the Medical History & Risk Assessment Questionnaire before they handle animals or unfixed tissues/blood/body fluids.

Web-based Training

PIs/PDs or other individuals who will work with vertebrate animals should complete UNH’s Web-based training on The Ethical Care and Use of Vertebrate Animals in Research and Instruction.
