PIs/PDs generally have flexibility to incur travel costs in direct support of the programmatic purpose of the award, within federal cost principles (for federal awards) and UNH policies. See the USNH Travel References webpage for more information.

Foreign travel is a special category that requires PI/PD adherence to the Fly America Act, or risk disallowance of foreign travel costs. In many cases, pre-approval is required for foreign travel. PIs/PDs should consult their OSR GCA* for advice.
