| 5. Rates
Federally-negotiated standard rates and bases must be used for calculating various parts of the project budget, such as the Facilities and Administrative (F&A) cost rates and fringe benefits rates. F&A rates and/or bases for some federal programs and for non-federal sponsors may be limited by statute or policy. Rates with for-profit sponsors must not undercut federally-negotiated rates. PIs/PDs should consult sponsor guidelines and their OSR GCA*. OSR’s budget template allows for non-standard sponsor specific F&A rates. PIs/PDs should refer to the current UNH F&A and fringe benefits rates when preparing a budget. In addition, the UNH “Rates Schedule” provides information on graduate student stipends, tuition, and health insurance, employee salary inflation factors for future years, and reimbursement for use of personal vehicles. Faculty and staff salary rates must be consistent with the individual’s appointment, and UNH and USNH personnel policy. When budgeting for new Professional, Administrative, and Technical (PAT) staff positions, PIs/PDs should consult their BSC and the UNH Office of Human Resources for guidance on job classification options and pay ranges. *PIs/PDs in EOS should contact their BSC. |
