Our Goals for 2009

The Operating Staff Council joined the PAT and EE Councils at the Tri-Council Retreat in January, where the three councils identified the following goals for 2009:

  1. Find a way to reduce the amount of unnecessary paper sent to employees.
  2. Encourage the university administration to implement a plan to promote employees from within.
  3. Improve communication – between councils, between the councils and their constituents, and between the councils and the administration.


In addition, the Operating Staff Council is pursuing some goals of its own:

  1. Create an Employee Mediation Board (continued from 2008; PAT Council is also involved).
  2. Work with Transportation Services to find better ways to encourage/incentivize carpooling and explore the possibility of Park-N-Rides with bus service to campus.
  3. Advocate for greater support from Human Resources for employees who wish to participate in professional development activities.
