University Program Descriptions Undergraduate Course Descriptions University Writing Requirement |
The College of Life Sciences and Agriculture provides students with specific instruction in major fields related to understanding biological processes, agricultural sciences, and the management of natural resources. Students may also combine a major with the dual major in international affairs.
You need to print out your 12 COLSA worksheet prior to attending June Orientation.
Choosing First-Semester Courses
The specific requirements of the first semester COLSA programs are listed below. Note that in most cases there are one or two general education requirements (gen eds) to be chosen. Since the availability of English 401 is limited to half the first-year class first semester, make sure you have chosen alternative gen eds. You should give serious consideration to selection of gen eds before you attend Orientation.
It is expected that you will review the current Undergraduate Catalog, the Discovery Program (core university curriculum) and writing requirements at and then chose four courses in which you are interested. Review course descriptions for those you are considering. Your final choice of Discovery courses will be made after consultation with your academic adviser at Orientation.
A normal course load is 16 credits, usually consisting of four 4-credit courses. First-year students usually take courses numbered in the 400s and 500s.
