Choosing First-Semester Courses

Recommended first-semester courses for each of the School of Health and Human Services programs are listed below. Notice that, in most cases, one or two general education requirements (gen eds) are included. Since the availability of English 401 is limited to half the first-year class first semester, make sure that you have chosen alternative gen eds. Review the current Undergraduate Catalog at www.undergradcat.unh.edu and the general education and writing requirements at www.undergradcat.unh.edu/webreq.html, and choose four courses in which you are interested. List these four courses, along with the recommended courses for your major, on the worksheet on the next page. Your choice of gen eds will be made from this list at Orientation in consultation with an academic adviser.
A normal course load is 16 credits, usually consisting of four 4-credit courses. First-year students should take courses numbered in the 400s and 500s.

You need to print out your SHHS worksheet prior to attending June Orientation.

Taking French or Spanish? You must complete an online placement test before your June orientation: Go to the French and Spanish Placement Test Site
