Named for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the MLK Leadership
Summit is a three day leadership-development institute for students.
The Summit is sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Student
Affairs with additional support from the Leadership
Center. Participants in the MLK Summit have the opportunity
to examine and develop their own leadership potential within a
multicultural context. The 2008 MLK Leadership Summit will take
place on February 22nd - 24th, 2008. For more information, please

The MLK Summit can help expand your understanding of diversity,
which
includes but is not limited to:
ability
age
ethnicity
gender identity
geographic origin
national origin
race
religious traditions
sexual orientation
socio-economic class
You are invited to explore these critical issues in a safe environment
that promotes growth, reflection and honest dialogue. You will
also have the opportunity to explore and further your potential
for leadership within a diverse community.
currently-enrolled full time undergraduate student at UNH
actively involved in a multicultural student society
current/future student leader
interested in diversity, multiculturalism or social justice issues
interested in learning more about yourself and others
available and willing to commit to a Friday evening through Sunday
evening off-campus retreat
At the MLK Summit, you will take part in activities that will
help you gain a deeper understanding of your own culture and experience,
as well as break down barriers to cross-cultural communication.
Dress for the MLK Summit is casual. Please bring:
Comfortable, warm clothes
Towel/washcloth/toiletries
Blankets or comforter and pillows
Books, games, homework, pen, paper
Each year, the MLK Summit is held off campus at
a retreat facility in northern New Hampshire. Our staff researches
and evaluates sites year-round to ensure that the location is
optimally situated to host a diverse community of learners. This
year's Summit will take place at the
Merrowvista Education Center in Tuftonboro, NH.
You can expect to share a room with other MLK Summit participants.
Meals and snacks will be provided free of charge, as well as round-trip
transport to and from the summit site.
