Dear Colleagues
and Students,
The Office
of Multicultural Student Affairs will be staging the theatrical
production of a play called "The Meeting." This play is a fictional
dramatization of a meeting between Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. In short, this one hour and 15 minute play covers these
two extraordinary leader's visions on race and democracy in America,
and explores who they were beyond their iconic status as well.
The event also includes a post-performance question and answer
period (if so desired) with the actors and director. This production
continues to advance the University's/Discovery program dialogue
and critical analysis of Democracy.
This production
is offered FREE of charge, and best of all we will bring the production
to your classroom, residential hall, student organization, department,
off-campus organization, etc. The production will be available
for bookings any time in March and April, although you can begin
to make arrangements now. We ask that you provide us with at the
very least one week advance notice, but the more advance notice
you provide us with the better.
If you
do not have the opportunity to book a performance this academic
year, the production will return in the fall so that you may also
build it into your course curriculum (we can provide a suggested
reading list). Feel free to contact me if you have any questions
or wish to discuss a booking.
Regards,
Sean
"We bring the drama to you!"
