Dr. Luciano Fonseca is a Research Assistant Professor at the CCOM/JHC of the University of New Hampshire . He received a PHD in Ocean Engineering from UNH in 2001. He joined the CCOM/JHC after 12 years of experience in research and development in the oil industry. Dr. Fonseca’s research is focused on developing methods for extracting quantitative seafloor property information from the acoustic backscatter acquired by multibeam and sidescan sonars, also on improving backscatter mapping and mosaicking, and on modeling acoustic backscatter response of gassy sediments.
