Spring 2011 NRESS Student Seminars

The Seminars will be on Tuesdays or Thursdays from 12:40 – 1:30 PM in James G49. All speakers this semester are currently enrolled as NRESS students.

Pizza or baked potato bar (3/22, 4/14, 5/12) will be served. Please RSVP to Cyndy Carlson, NRESS Student Seminar Co-Coordinator, by 10 am the morning before each presentation.

Heather Ballestero, Biodegradation of Oil in Arctic Sea Ice
Heather is currently a NRESS PhD student working with the Coastal Response Research Center (CRRC) - Center for Oil Spills in the Environment. Her research looks at the behavior of oil spills in the arctic - a region that due to changes in global temperature increasingly opens up for commercial activities including offshore-drilling.
