Description of Research

Millions of dollars are spent each year by NGOs to influence public decisions. Many of these NGOs actively participate in the federal fishery management council process in the United States. Little research has focused on understanding their role within this process. This research will begin to fill this gap through a detailed content analysis of Council meeting transcripts.  This research draws upon organizational theory and public administration literature to understand organizational behavior choices.  Results will identify what organizational behaviors are used within the Council process, suggest why, and explore what difference they make.
