NHOC Trip Blurbs… Second Half Fall 2008!
Trip Signups – Tuesday, February 3rd, 7:00pm in the Strafford Room (MUB)

Leadership Training: Apr. 3-5, All Levels
A trip in the natural world to teach interested youth in how to be an amazing leader for NHOC. A time of joy, learning and great food in the wilderness. This trip is one of the requirements to become a leader of the outing club.

Super Sunrise Hike Apr. 11, Beginner
Come hike Mt. Major with two awesome leaders and watch the sunrise over Lake Winnepasaki. There are sure to be awesome views and delicious hot chocolate.  

Tucks Ravine: The Holy Grail: Apr. 10-11, Very Advanced

We will be claiming the headwall on Tuckerman’s Ravine, one of the gnarliest hikes/skis in the east. You have to be in excellent shape, and be an expert skier (for real- be able to ski backcountry terrain comfortably). It will be epic, rest assured.

Immigration to Isolation: Apr. 17-19, Advanced
Wes and Eric are going all out on their quest for Isolation’s summit. They’ll be hiking up to Nauman Tentsite for some backcountry camping before attempting to tackle this lonely summit. It is a tough hike, so previous experience is recommended.

Give Me Liberty, and Flume?: Apr. 17-19, Advanced
I do declare that these mountains present a great opportunity freedom, and good clean outdoor fun. If you’re dyeing to conquer some more 4000 footers, join Dan, Tom, and TJ as they scale up Liberty and Flume on Franconia Ridge, and possible Cannon as well. There is a chance there will still be snow on top, so be prepared to deal with winter one more time

Crusin’ the Cape: Apr. 24-26, Intermediate

We’re heading, no, crusin’ down to the Cape for a weekend of cycling, swimming and sunbathing. We will seeing the cape on two wheels as we cycle the Cape Cod Rail Trail, as well as spend time at the beach, eat ice cream and have a good time. Come experience all Cape Cod has to offer before it’s overrun with tourists.

Work Trip: Apr. 24-26, Beginner
Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho It’s off to work we go with lots of axes, chainsaws and other cool tools. Come join us as we put some tender loving care into our cabins. Join us to cut wood to keep you warm on our trips. So if you want to give back to the club join us on this very fun trip.

Fly Away to Pway: Apr. 26, All Levels
Come enjoy a day of scaling rock walls out in the woods of NH in spring time, while indulging on the best GORP. Whether you’re a rookie or a vet, you’ll have a rocking good time.

Rock out at Rumney: May 1-2, All Levels
Join us for a fun filled day rock climbing at beautiful Rumney State Park. We will be staying over at Franky cabin Friday night in order to get a head start on Saturday. We will spend the entire say climbing routes from beginner to expert.

The Paintball Trip: May 2, All Levels
The outing club is once again heading up to OSG Paintball in Barnsted, NH for a day of awesome, shoot-em-up fun. Where else can you defend a fort, attack a castle, and get thrown in the middle of a city, all while shooting at your friends. This is open to any experience level, and rentals are available if you need them.

Walden Pond Pilgrimage: May 3, Beginner
Looking to get off campus, check out the outing club, and see where history was made, then this is the trip for you. The first NHOC trip with suggested reading, come see where Thoreau lived and wrote his iconic book Walden.

Coast the Coast: May 3, Experienced Biker
Come see the beautiful coasts of NH on a 20-30 mile bike ride along them. Enjoy the sites, eat lunch on the beach and meet new people. You must have road biking experience, and a touring/road bike of your own in good working condition.
Stairway to Hell: May 8-10, Advanced
We will be ascending Mt. Washington via Tuckerman’s Ravine trail, then traversing across the northern Presidentials on one epic hike through the most rugged terrain in New Hampshire. We will be pushing ourselves so you must be in top physical condition.

New Hampshire Outing Club Trips

The NHOC typically leads two to three trips a weekend. Trip Sign-Ups are held twice a semester, where club memebers can learn about and sign up for trips. Membership is open to all UNH undergraduates. Students can sign up for trips and participate in other activities the club offers throughout the year. Trip costs, which cover food, transportation, gear and cabin rentals cost $10-$20 with additional cost for speciality activities like skydiving or paintball.
