WHAT:  Putting Corporate Responsibility on the National Agenda

BACKGROUND:  Three prominent national figures from government, finance and the law will inaugurate New Hampshire’s newly formed Initiative For Corporate Responsibility and Investor Protection. The event, the first in a series of high-level forums, will be held in conjunction with the Whittemore School of Business and Economics.

The forum will focus on how to keep the nation's corporations on an ethical path. Speakers are former U.S. Attorney General Dick Thornburgh, former SEC Chairman Harvey Pitt, and retired U.S. District Court Judge Stanley Sporkin. The forum will be moderated by Myron Kandel, president of the Initiative For Corporate Responsibility and Investor Protection and founding financial editor of CNN.

“I’m particularly pleased to kick off our series at UNH, which has such a fine institution as the Whittemore School of Business and Economics,” Kandel said. “We hope to shine a spotlight on the lessons learned from the recent rash of corporate and financial scandals and emphasize the value of public responsibility in government, business and everyday life.”
