DURHAM, N.H. -- NH Sea Grant will hold an informal roundtable discussion of “Fishing Gear Research and Innovation” on Wednesday, May 3, from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Urban Forestry Center in Portsmouth. The event is part of the ongoing Fisheries Roundtable Discussion Series. All talks are free and open to the public.

The discussion will be led by Pingguo He, NH Sea Grant commercial fishing specialist and UNH research associate professor of fisheries and fish behavior; and David Goethel, a commercial fisherman and member of the New England Fisheries Management Council. He and Goethel will describe the selective fishing gear currently in development and will lead an informal discussion to identify strategies for NH fishermen to use gear innovations to increase fishing opportunities.
