UNH Celebrates Its Graduates
and Honors Students May 20-21

DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire will kick
off its Commencement weekend activities with a ceremony to recognize
the academic achievements of its senior honors students and Presidential
Scholars at its 2005 Honors Convocation Friday, May 20, at 4 p.m.
in the Whittemore Center Arena. A reception will follow the ceremony.
The guest speaker for this year’s ceremony is Gale Carey,
UNH professor of Animal and Nutritional Sciences. The title of
her address is “Amazed Out of Time.” Seniors with a
GPA of 3.2 or greater will be recognized as honors students, and
those with a GPA of 3.7 or higher will be recognized as Presidential
Scholars.
The next morning, Saturday, May 21, at 10 a.m., graduates will
share the celebration of their academic accomplishments with
keynote speaker Tom Werner, award-winning television producer
and chairman of the reigning World Series Champions, the Boston
Red Sox, at UNH’s 135th Commencement in Cowell Stadium.
Commencement also will feature the awarding of honorary degrees
to Werner, the commencement speaker; Euripides Evriviades, UNH
alumnus and current ambassador of the Republic of Cyprus to the
United States; and John Lynch, governor of New Hampshire and
former chair of the University System Board of Trustees.
