DURHAM, N.H. – University of New Hampshire students will recognize the efforts of those who help foster rich and strong communities in the state by presenting the 2nd Annual University of New Hampshire Community Leader of the Year Awards.

The awards will be presented at a black tie-optional banquet and ball Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, in UNH’s Holloway Commons. Organized and run entirely by students in the university’s Community Development Program, the event will include a silent auction, dinner and award ceremony, with all proceeds going to a scholarship fund.

Tickets for the event are $50 per person; a discounted rate is $90 for a pair. Tickets for students will be sold for $30 per student. Community members are encouraged to “sponsor” a student. Tables (seats 8) may be purchased for $350, which includes a half-page ad in the program.

Four awards will be presented. Two are New Hampshire statewide awards, while two are UNH universitywide. The awards include the Community Leader of the Year, Community-Supporting Organization of the Year, UNH Student Community Leader of the Year, and UNH Campus Organization of the Year. The deadline for nominations is Nov 5.
