DURHAM, N.H. – A University of New Hampshire fraternity was
permanently dismissed from UNH today, following the denial of its
appeal to the UNH student conduct process yesterday. Phi Kappa
Sigma (PKS) had been a UNH-recognized fraternity for approximately
16 years.
PKS, located at the corner of Strafford and Garrison avenues,
loses its university recognition and is permanently dismissed.
The chapter was found responsible by a UNH Judicial Board for infractions
pertaining to verbal/physical abuse and discriminatory harassment
which occurred last year.
The University of New Hampshire’s discriminatory harassment
policy is very clear about expectations for individual and organizational
members of the university community. All students, faculty and
staff at UNH can be assured that the university will do everything
in its power to ensure that they are safe from harassment and abuse.
