DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire CEO Forum
is pleased to present “Success through Risk—Why It’s
Good to Find the Outside of the Envelope: The Boston Red Sox Acquisition,” a
presentation by Boston Red Sox partner and Vice Chairman Leslie
Otten, Thursday, Sept. 25, at the New England Center. A breakfast
buffet will be served at 8:30 a.m. with the presentation following
from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
As one of the two founders of the investment group that acquired
the Club, Otten will provide his perspective on the acquisition
of the team and its affect on both the club and major league baseball.
Otten also is former owner and CEO of American Skiing Co., one
of North America’s largest ski resort companies; owner of
Sunday River ski resort; and one of Inc. magazine’s entrepreneurs
of the year.
Initiated in 1997, the CEO Forum is an outreach program of the
UNH Whittemore School of Business and Economics and the Division
of Continuing Education serving CEOs, presidents and senior managers
of companies in Northern New England. The Forum provides its members
with opportunities to meet and exchange ideas with their peers
in business and industry in an informal setting. Annual membership
in the CEO Forum is $695, which includes breakfast for two at each
of the five seminars. The CEO Forum is sponsored by the law firm
of Pierce Atwood.
This year’s CEO Forum speakers include: Leslie Otten, partner
and vice chairman of the Boston Red Sox; William Igoe, general
manager, Berlin Mill Fraser Paper; Duane Montopoli, president/CEO,
Hitchner Manufacturing Co.; John McTear, vice president asset management,
Con Edison; and Chris Zimmerman, president/CEO, Bauer Nike Hockey.
