UNH Offers Summer Writing Institute for Teachers By Liz Arcieri May 7, 2003 DURHAM, N.H. -- A nine-day writing institute providing teachers with in-depth training in unique art-and-literature-based processes designed to improve student writing will be offered by the University of New Hampshire's Laboratory for Interactive Learning in July. Picturing Writing: Fostering Literacy Through Art and Image Making Within
the Writing Process are proven by research to dramatically improve student
writing. By giving students access to visual and kinesthetic modes of
thinking at each and every stage of the writing The institute will take place July 7-11 and 14-17, 2003, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The cost is $1,075 per participant. Elementary classroom teachers, art, reading and special education specialists are encouraged to attend. Deadline to register is May 30, 2003.
