Reporters and editors: We have just learned (from some of you) that former U.S. Senator Gary Hart will be at UNH tomorrow, March 27. Below are details.
This Thursday, March 27, at 6 p.m., former U.S. Senator Gary Hart is moderating a student discussion, hosted by Professor Mark Wrighton, at the University of New Hampshire on the war with Iraq. The event takes place in Room 4 of the Horton Science Center.
Some background: Gary Hart was co-chairman of the U.S. Commission on National Security/ 21st Century, a bipartisan commission chartered by the Department of Defense (his co-chair was Warren Rudman). In February 2001, Hart and the Commission published the report "Road Map for National Security: Imperative for Change," which warned of the need for increased security to prevent domestic terrorist attacks.
Gary Hart also served for two terms as a Democratic U.S. Senator from Colorado, contended for the Democratic nomination for President in 1984 and 1988 (where he won the New Hampshire Democratic Presidential primary in 1984), and is the author of 12 books.
The format for this event will be an audience discussion moderated by Senator Hart.
