UNH Salutes More than 2,000 Students at Honors Convocation

Academic ceremony is set for Saturday May 3

DURHAM, N.H. -- The University of New Hampshire will recognize the academic achievements of 1,697 honors students and 305 Presidential Scholars at its 2003 Honors Convocation, at 2 p.m., Saturday, May 3, 2003, at the Whittemore Center Arena.

The guest speaker for this year's ceremony will be John W. Seavey, Everett B. Sackett Professor and chair of the Department of Health Management & Policy. The title of his address is "To Our Health."

The ceremony is the university's way of recognizing the outstanding academic achievement of its upper-class students. Juniors and seniors with a GPA of 3.2 or greater will be recognized as Honors Students. Seniors with a GPA of 3.7 or greater will be recognized as Presidential Scholars and will be awarded gold cords along with their citations to be worn at Commencement May 24.

The ceremony also will recognize Student Award winners for community service and leadership, and will feature musical performances by the UNH Wind Symphony and the UNH Chamber Singers. A reception will follow the ceremony on the north lawn behind the Whittemore Center with President Ann Weaver Hart. Tickets are not required. For more info call 603-862-4702.
