DURHAM, N.H. -- The University of New Hampshire Therapeutic Riding Program is seeking volunteers for its fall session. No experience with horses is necessary.

Classes will be held Tuesday evenings from 5 to 7:30 p.m. and Friday afternoons from 1 to 3 p.m. The session begins Oct. 8 and ends Nov. 15. Help will also be needed before and after each lesson. Time commitment for volunteers is flexible, and can be as little as 45 minutes, one day per week.

A training and orientation session for new volunteers will be held Monday, Sept. 23, at 6 p.m. in the Light Horse Classroom at the UNH Horse Barns on Mast Road in Durham.

The UNH Therapeutic Riding Program provides recreational and therapeutic activities for children and adults with a variety of physical, mental and emotional disabilities. Volunteers have direct contact with students, helping to ensure a safe and fun lesson environment, and helping students achieve their therapeutic and educational goals.
