UNH Greenhouse Open House Scheduled for April 5 & 6, 2002Coincides with Seacoast Flower, Home, and Garden ShowBy Sharon KeelerUNH News Bureau March 26, 2002 DURHAM, N.H. -- April is a great time of year to visit the University of New Hampshire Greenhouse Open House. This year's event will provide plenty of interesting displays and lots of information to help chase away winter and welcome spring. The two-day event sponsored by UNH's College of Life Science and Agriculture, Cooperative Extension and Thompson School of Applied Science takes place 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, April 5 and 6. It is free and open to the public. UNH's Greenhouse Open House will include educational lectures, colorful displays and demonstrations on a wide range of topics to satisfy anyone interested in home gardening and landscaping. Visitors can pick up a wealth of tips on a variety of topics such as turfgrass maintenance, hot new flowering plants, controlling wasps and hornets, grafting techniques, and gardening with native plants. Other events and activities include: The UNH Greenhouses are located off Main Street on the west end of Durham. Lectures take place in Putnam Hall, across the parking lot from the greenhouses. This year's Open House coincides with the 2002 Seacoast Flower, Home, & Garden Show at the Whittemore Center April 5 through 7 (Friday 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.). Coordinated by Dickson & McGonigle of North Conway, the Home & Garden Show features exhibitors of home- and landscape-related products and services.
