DURHAM, N.H. -- Janet Whitehouse, vice president for strategic initiatives at Sun Life Financial of Wellesley Hills, Mass., will speak on the University of New Hampshire campus Tuesday, April 9, at a marketing seminar sponsored by the Whittemore School of Business and Economics.
Whitehouse's talk, "Challenges of Developing a Successful Career After UNH," will be held in Room 310 McConnell Hall from 12:40 to 2 p.m. Steve Bolander, dean of the Whittemore School, said Whitehouse's appearance is an outstanding opportunity for UNH faculty and students to learn first-hand from one of the region's gifted marketing professionals.
Whitehouse, who earned an MBA from the Whittemore School in 1985, joined Sun Life Financial in July, 2000. She has overseen the company's market research and e-business divisions and has supervised new ventures into worksite marketing and development of a new business model. She has also focused on integrating Vision Financial, a newly acquired, industry-leading worksite third-party administrator based in Keene, into the Sun Life family.
Before moving to Sun Life, Whitehouse spent 15 years in various leadership roles at UNUM Corp. subsidiaries, including chief of the mergers and acquisitions team, member of the senior management team at UNUM Ltd., U.K., president and chief operating officer at Commercial Life Insurance, and senior vice president at Duncanson & Holt, a reinsurance subsidiary.
Whitehouse is chair of the board at Vision Financial, Keene, and a member of the dean's advisory board for the Neag School of Education at the University of Connecticut. She also serves on the board for the Better Business Bureau of Eastern Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont.
