DURHAM, N.H. -- University of New Hampshire President Joan Leitzel will deliver her annual State of the University Address Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 12:30 p.m. in the Granite State Room of the Memorial Union Building.
Members of the university community and the public are invited to attend the hour-long presentation, which will include a review of recent university achievements, challenges and goals for the coming year, and a brief film on philanthropy. Leitzel also will present the first Hubbard Family Award for Service to Philanthropy to K.v. R. Dey Jr., '48.
Dey began fundraising for the university in 1980 when he emerged as leader of the $18.3 million Campaign for Distinction. He later chaired the Whittemore Center campaign and established an endowment to support the university's Writing Across the Curriculum initiative. In the last decade, he has been instrumental in establishing and leading the fundraising efforts of the UNH Foundation and currently serves as chair of the Emeriti Directors Council of the Foundation.
Immediately following the president's address, the university will host a celebration announcing the construction of the new residence and dining halls. The celebration will be held overlooking the construction site behind the MUB followed by a reception to honor Dey in the Strafford Room.
